Piccolo is like Tom Bombadil. He's this mysterious man of nature who someone might find deep in the wilderness, he'll strike you as being all-powerful and capable of doing anything, but any trivial Earthly matter you have will be insignificant to him. Unless you really tugged at his heartstrings, I think the most you could expect out of Piccolo is sage-like guidance. He could point you in the right direction in your journey, but is unlikely to do much more than that. I'm imagining an adventurer who is about as powerful as Yamcha was during Dragon Ball meeting Piccolo and being astonished that there's this being who is a million times more powerful than him, but doesn't threaten anybody.
