Zack Snyder is a Paul W.S. Anderson fan (which is ironic because he's the modern Richard Lester) but regardless Anderson really likes the idea of characters who don't talk much. You feel a lot of influence of that in BvS, a film that copies multiple shots from Alien vs. Predator and Resident Evil 5.
