It’s the elevation of self above God and others, fostering other sins like envy or greed. Combating pride first humbles the heart, making it easier to address subsequent sins with sincerity (James 4:6: “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble”).
• Fasting Strategy: Practice humility through service, gratitude, and confession (Philippians 2:3). For example, serve others anonymously or reflect daily on God’s greatness.
• Why It Helps: Overcoming pride opens the heart to God’s grace, weakening the self-centeredness that fuels other sins.
• Hubris leads to Nemesis.
• Love your neighbor as yourself.
