Teenagers and young adults are the most avid gamers. They're in that sort of phase where they grew out of what they see as simplistic and condescending good vs evil morality teaching stories. They see morally gray characters and stories as profound and sophisticated. It makes them feel smart, which is really just a manifestation of how immature they still are. As you get older you care less about it and come to enjoy the pure simplicity of good vs evil again.
