>his only canonical friend
Headcanon for now, it's probably likely, but I see three options:
>Ragatha was referring to Ribbit, and really was rubbing the "death" of his friend in his face. Which seems fairly out of character for her, and frankly as well as any other character. Especially since she got so flustered like she said something she didn't mean to.
How can you mistakenly make a jab about a dead friend? None of these characters seem like they would do such a thing. They were all genuinely broken up at Kaufmo's funeral, even Jax creeping on the sidelines. Realizing that they don't take abstraction/the value of a person lightly is what saved Pomni at the end of ep 2.
>Ragatha was referring to herself/the others, and Ribbit is a red herring. Highly unlikely, because I don't think Jax would react so seriously to a comment concerning his dear, sweet, alive and present punching bags.
>Ragatha was referring to herself/the others, instantly realized it sounded like a jab about Ribbit when she saw Jax's face, and regretted it.
I don't think Ribbit was his *only* actual friend. I think he was friends with others before, and in particular Ragatha, because they seem to have the tension of people who know each other well, but long ago had a falling out. His VA was chosen for his impression of Raggedy Andy. They are supposed to be a duo and I don't think it was always entirely antagonistic.
And I believe whatever happened with Ribbit coincided with the deterioration and final nail in the coffin of all his circus friendships. When he started caring so little he started hurting people. And either:
>His declining behaviour broke all his friendships, and proceeded to help break a friend
>Or this friend's abstraction broke his ability to care, and he then proceeded to break his other friendships
>his only canonical friend
