It's his coping mechanism, and it's just as fake as Ragatha's optimism. By keeping everything at arm's length he doesn't have to lose people like he lost Ribbit. Of course he's a human being who still craves connection and he's shown that he would clearly love a sincere relationship with Ragatha but can't have one because of her falseness being more ironclad than his falseness. He tried to make a genuine connection with Pomni in the previous episode, but she remained defensive. In this one they seem to be getting along better.

No. He regrets losing Ribbity, that's different. He never stopped and became sombre when Rags told him he was an asshole, he became sombre and withdrawn by the memory of losing his dear friend. He does have a potentially tragic background, but that does make him absolutely love and take joy in tormenting people. Gangle is the most fragile of the group and Jax consistently targets her at every oppertunity. This is not the actions of someone being a dick to distance himself from the pain, this is someone who genuinely takes humor and joy in picking on or bullying weaker people (still like him though)

Besides, you're forgetting that this show also has jokes and humor. That's what the jax being a troll is supposed to be, you're confusing it with the drama and lore parts. The president office adventure wasn't meant to be taken seriously, even with jax apologizing later.
Also, I'm not defending jax's methods. He clearly has flaws. However, they're trapped in a computer and everyone got issues. Gangle is not an exception. And, plus, her near crash out in 4 was shown to be mostly of her own making. She could have played along and not taken the adventure so seriously but she did and it went bad.

Absolutely it is for humour, but it still occupies a space next to a show about broken people. It's difficult to pick and choose what can be judged and what can't if a character is interacting with another in negative way when their negative behavior is a big talking point in the show. Gangle is a fair point too, she did act horribly in episode 4. However I think you can can agree that situation was very atypical of her usual behavior. Does not make it right, but when you compare it to someone else whose baseline behavior is to cause problems it is not exactly comparable if that makes sense.

I think Zooble took Jax's tail when he was distracted by being a jerk and nobody cared enough to tell him it was missing. It was also one of those cottonball tales which make him calling it "the pinnacle of masculinity" even funnier

How can you mistakenly make a jab about a dead friend? None of these characters seem like they would do such a thing. You know, usually I’m in the Helluva Boss thread defending Stolas from lessers, but I digress, it’s Jax’s turn. People who hate Jax are too much like StellaKek and it all stems from an unfair hatred of mentally ill men. Ragabitch and Jax remind me too much of Stolas and Stella to stay quiet any longer. But I can see why people hate Ragabitch. Women aren’t capable of emotional intelligence, that’s why I call them leaders- Ragatha is a good example. Yes, Jax is a gay man who was in love with Ribbit, making him an easy target for harpy fans and horny Ragabitch fanboys. Jax hurts no one, he playfully teases the others, not bully. Maybe it’s facilitating this by letting him learn from the mental anguish/breakdowns from the users that lead to their blackouts, and adapting it into his own programming.

So while his basic original cordial programming takes priority over rogue elements for now, and the glitches and decay don’t allow any state to be stable or predictable, I think there’s some rogue emotional protocol that is logging all info of every failed piece of user feedback, and the list is getting longer, quicker

Does anyone else feel like buttonblossom shippers have been starving since episode 3? Especially episode 5 and that new plush commercial seems to have been teasing fans of hetslop ships like ribbun or bunnydoll. Abstragedy fans have also been having absolute feasts recently but I deeply fear that this ship might eventually fall onto the wayside and be forgotten like checkmates or bluetooth. This is a real shame to me because I personally do really like this ship and find them cute together. TADC's episode 2 plays pretty much like what you would expect from Goose's previous stuff, like Elain's episodes or Little Runmo:

The other thing I've been thinking about is the whole Caine isn't actually bad statement. That was from one statement by Goose way back before the pilot when everyone flipped out of the teaser trailer for the show of Caine throwing knives at Pomni on that spinning wheel thing. Goose said that so far back and so early on before the show even aired that I wonder if it still holds true. Goose didn't want people to watch the pilot knowing full well tadc was based on ihnmaims and be disappointed that Caine wasn't AM but at that point Goose didn't know if she was getting a full show. So the plot of what Caine could become could very well change and we could get a bad ending. Ideally, I would absolutely love for there to be a good ending for the crew. The most fascinating thing about independent animation is how upset people get whenever a character is developed more or they start to get to know them better.

People will complain and wind that a character has changed so much in episode six when his total screen time before that episode adds up to less than five minutes.

The number of people complaining about Jack's character changing in episode 4 and even more in episode 5 is ridiculous when you actually look at how little he was on screen until those episodes. But I think the extended time between episodes means that people watch and re-watch these shows to the point where they can't remember that this character is only been on screen for five minutes before and have this whole elaborate backstory in their mind for them.
