Gear is easy to engage in conversation with because it takes so little effort. Ergo, the engagement ratios will not change without a rule in place that is actually enforced by the jannies. Afaik we only have one and I genuinely don't know if they do anything outside of ban the most egregious fuckwits.
I'd love a rule enstating that gear discussion must stay in a pinned gear thread, but it'll never happen because it wouldn't actually increase the quality of engagement, it would just half the amount of it.
