Your opinion isn't objective truth, and many others feel differently. That's a tough pill to swallow, but it's true.
I never got bored of the reading in Pillars, and I enjoyed the stats system, combat mechanics, and builds.
My biggest complaint in 1 is not dense enough Defiance Bay or Twin Elms, as well as general poor encounter design (though the combat itself is fun). I have some other complaints, and complaints about 2, but overall I think they're 8/10 or 9/10 CRPGs.
