threat model? like what are you concerned with using a bridge instead of a long usb cable?
personally, i'd find something that can run openwrt, be it a regular "wifi router", or an rpi or whatever, openwrt will run on tons of stuff. that way you at least know what's running on it, and i would trust openwrt to be more secure than some non-name firmware on a soho router
