I think that's a good thing. It's kind of lame that the machine gets associated with one super-talented pilot and nobody else can use it. Or if they do, it's a hand-me-down.
Same logic as what >>23310505 said. I could write about SEED and Kira all day long, but this is a better example of what I mean. Banaji having to depend on the Beam Magnum (to the extent it needs to add a cumbersome arm replacement mechanism to the poor Silver Bullet) only reinforces him as a shitty pilot.
