What's your opinion of the Calibarn? The show is what it is, but I think the Calibarn is a solid upgrade, elegant, clean and especially cute with the witch broom cannon.

I’m guessing that they were trying to say that RX-78 -> Dijeh is such a minor upgrade (if it is one, I’m just assuming it’s better given that it has the same Gundarium armor and is newer by 6 years) compared to the other suit upgrades it would be simply unfair to use.

Although 78 to nu is probably the more unfair as the other examples are mid show upgrades while 78->nu is a in between shows upgrades

I think that's a good thing. It's kind of lame that the machine gets associated with one super-talented pilot and nobody else can use it. Or if they do, it's a hand-me-down.

Magnetic coating RX-78 is the best, the way it indicates it only exists to keep up with Amuro's exponential skill increase, as opposed to carrying their pilot a second time through sheer performance, essential reverting them back to an inherent infantile position again, and leaving the original main mech to either be seen disgracefully destroyed, or dumped on a side character and embarrassingly nerfed in comparison
