I've just realised how every character in fantastic four was created as an in-joke by Stan Lee:

The Invisable Woman is married to a guy with a fairly useless power who calls himself "Mr Fantastic". She is eclipsed by his huge ego, despite being more powerful than him.

Mr Fantastic is obviously a comment on how men like to represent themselves as the best and strongest, based on how long their nob can get.

The fuman tourch flirts with anything that has a pair of tits, even if they're not good tits. Looks like hes compensating for something, trying to throw people off the scent that he is a gay. Well he is "flaming" afterall...
