I've jumped in to hate on people who suggest Knuckles be untethered from the M.E. but I typically ignore the "Knuckles should be vaulted/killed" posts.
Why, you ask?
Because Knuckles has been a mainstay for over 30 years. He's well-liked and one of the least hated characters in the franchise, aside from a few exceptions here or there. He's not going anywhere. The suggestion that he be killed or vaulted is completely impossible, it's nonsense I just laugh at.
Now, untethering Knuckles from the M.E.? That's actually within the realm of possibility. One of IDW's writers unironically suggested destroying the M.E., and as we've seen, IDW employees are climbing their way up the ladder into legitimate positions wherein they directly influence the franchise.
