We were occuppied by Germany in WW2 and we don't even get a day off on our liberation day from nazi germany.
I think military parades are weird and dictators seem to be really into them for some reason. Probably makes you vulnerable to attacks during a parade too since half the military is busy dancing and driving planes like cars. Seems like ideal attack timing, wipe out military in one swoop with one fat bomb.

I don't even see how it would speed things up for you when everything is already so streamlined. Just find a guide to the basics of kana+kanji+grammar and then continue on with something like kaishi for core vocab and dojg for grammar and mine your own words in anki while reading manga and watching slice of life anime. It will be difficult, it will get easier. Then you up the difficulty.
