Well maybe if companies figured out the highly complex and expensive act of "forgoing trying to get people to play New Game by killing old game with no means of playing it offline" we wouldn't be here. Literally just patch the central server files into the fucking game so it can be played offline or release a means for private and/or dedicated servers to be ran by fans. You'd have to be addicted to fucking boot leather to think this is some unreasonable ask and the only reason "duh gubment" needs to get involved is because companies would rather hope and gamble on you buying their new games than let you play the old ones. In case you forgot, the EU had to twist Apple's fucking arm JUST so we could get USB-C on the damn iPhone but please tell me how the less standardized and less useful Lightning cable was Apple's right to keep using until the sun fucking explodes.
