That is so neat, god damn.
In other news, I finally got my Volga running and idling almost like god intended. Went through 3 carbs. Bit the bullet with a chink weber clone and it worked almost straight out of the box. Should've went with a genuine weber right from the get go and not fuck around with "original" Russian carbs and whatnot.

Main issue with the Russian carbs was that they had this weird vacuum/electric idle solenoid system, almost like an ICV from a fuel injection engine.
When the throttle was closed, it pressed a microswitch in the carb body that sends a signal to some sort of relay, that in turn operates the vacuum solenoid, which in turn opens the vacuum valve in the carb to let air in once the RPM drops bellow a certain threshold.
It's a retarded system, maybe it works even in practice on a car equipped with such a system, but this is way too much fancy tech for a 60s Soviet design imo.
