Same. Drove to LV and passed the Sierra Nevada in the night. I was frightened by mountain range in the dark, so intimidating. The desert at night felt like I was on moon sometimes.
Then visiting lost forgotten towns with maybe a few hundred people in the middle of nowhere. Felt like I was in a different world.
