look at the instruction labels on your clothes and separate them by warm or cold and white, black or colored.
you shouldn't really need the liquid stuff, just get the powdered one since it's cheaper but if you have whites with a lot of stains you should soak it in hot water and the soap with some generic bleach, the instructions for how much should be in the package, i usually leave them to soak for like an hour then wash it away and rinse it a lot by hand. if it's cold wash you can use warm water, something you can dip your fingers in, they typically ask you to not use hot water because it shrinks the fabric or makes it undesirable in some way like wool. do the same and if you really really need to make it smell nice then yeah you can use softeners or whatever. rinse till your clothes aren't releasing stains and is clear. ideally wear those long plastic gloves or something because these things dry your hands.
