I have my Windows on SATA SSD.
This one https://www.kingston.com/en/ssd/kc600-sata-solid-state-drive
I like it that way because 250GB is reasonable size for OS partition that spans entire disk.
And I have another SSD a bit older that I keep as a backup drive: basically every couple weeks I clone entire OS SSD to a backup one (and also retain 3 backups elsewhere)

Now, I'm upgrading my rig and plan to get Samsung 990 Pro 2TB for games.
I want to keep my OS on SATA SSD because:
>current backup scheme is convenient
>I already have USB box for 2.5" devices
>chipping out 250GB OS partition out of new 2TB Drive sounds stupid
>Using entire 2TB drive as 1 OS partition is inconvenient for backups

Question: would I really lose GAMING performance from having my OS on SATA SSD versus M.2 NVME?

Buying another fast NVME just for OS sounds stupid. They don't come smaller than 500gb anyway. I do have Samsung 960 Evo 500GB that I currently use for games, but I don't think it would be much faster as OS disk.

Thoughts?
