I genuinely cannot keep up with modern video games anymore. I thought people were talking about that monkey dark souls game as the GOTY, then it was that nude Korean woman with the sword game that was being clamored as GOTY, and now whatever the fuck this game is, is being clamored as GOTY. I can't keep up.
I visited /v/ about a week ago, and they have a reaaaally good term for it called 'FOTM' (Flavor of the Month), and that perfectly captures this sort of phenomenon. Playing the game for a month, screaming that it's the GOAT for a month, and then discarding it for a new game everyone is playing and scream it's the GOAT, ad infinitum.

A medium that has people like that can't evolve at all, which is why /v/ is filled with manchildren.
