This. I will admit the short stories (The Last Wish etc) are genuinely good, but the main Ciri book saga is really awfully overrated. The characters and their predicaments are insufferable in an uninteresting way, and Sapkowski's notions of interpersonal drama are extremely grating and just hint at his unresolved issues.

I can't believe I'm saying this but Witcher 3 videogame did Sapkowski a huge favor, because it took the shit stuff from his books and actually reassembled them into something way more likeable and presentable. In a fucking videogame.
