Despite the part of you screaming to punch Percy in his extremely punchable face, you quiet down your inner urge for combat and sit and observe, for you reckon not everything needs a reaction. Not yet in any case. For the next few minutes, the two suspects go about their business in silence, neither deeming to speak to each other, and that allows you time to think. From the short conversation earlier, you got the impression that neither Percy nor the Stranger seems to like each other, so you wonder why they would be collaborating? You can only think that they must have some shared goal in mind, which seems at odds with the Heaven Societies' stated purpose of turning your world into a playground for Strangers, a Heaven for them if you want to be on the nose about it. But how would that benefit Percy or the Bloodgraves? Do Lord and Lady Bloodgrave even know about this? You have so many questions but so few answers, but by now you’ve learned that is par for the course with being a member of the Inquisition, where everyone seems to know everything but you. It almost makes you feel like a detective, like in the popular novels “The Strange Adventures of Herlock Sholmes.” Almost.
“I’ve finished in here. How goes your search?” Percy calls out from the armory.
“Just getting the last things. What exactly are the embalming tools again?” The man yells back, to which an exasperated sigh echoes off the stone walls.
“I’ll show you, just hurry up with everything else I want to get out of here as soon as we can,” Percy responds as you hear him begin to walk towards the hooded man. Damn it! You thought they’d start their ritual in this creepy basement, not leave! This calls for drastic measures…
“Rory, say something.” You whisper-yell to the woman beside you.
“W-what? What do I say?” She manages to respond despite herself. It almost looks like she’s on the verge of crying. You cannot tell why that might be.
“Anything!” You yell in the loudest quiet voice you can make.
“Uh, anything!” She blurts out, but it's good enough. You grab hold of her neck, near where her voice comes from, and weave magic through the air once again. A vocal illusion plays near the top of the stairs. First, it sounds as if a door opens, and a voice similar to Rory’s own screams, “MASTER PERCIVAL! Come quickly! There’s a situation with your father, an emergency!” Then the door slams shut. Though, of course, the door never actually moved, and Rory never said those words. You did.
“Curses, what is it now?” Percival exclaims, “Akari, stay here. I will deal with this, then return for you.” He continues in a tone that brooks no argument, which is good, seeing as it never comes as the hooded man waits in silence as Percy storms up the stairs to check on his father. Something that will drastically shorten your time here for when he barges into his parents' room and sees them beaten and unconscious, it would probably be best if you’re long gone.
