They decided to make Copen slow and shitty, until you get 1000 kudos and can play something that resembles old Copen.
Then also baffling design choices like making him melee oriented but then also removing the stomp. And removing his bullits because apparently it was an issue that he could fly through the stage. But Kirin/GV/Zed can just fly through the stages in GV3 and even teleport through the stage geometry, and it's all good.
