Doesn't the joke ending take place after GV1 and GV2, meaning that half of those characters are dead? For the amulet to exist means that Joule would have died, giving Mytyl her septima back. The septima would then be sealed in the amulet (much like Sumeragi does with glaives), and Nori hands Xiao the amulet. These series of events can only pass if Zonda got her plan off, and GV or Copen killed her. Eden could only act if Nova and the Defense Division were all dead. Ergo, the wallpaper dimension is closed off in the joke ending.

That's the most common theory.
There's some things that don't add up though so there's other theories too, like it being a timeline where Copen won on Firmament since he still uses the shield and Lola has a Nova weapon.
Another theory (more like 2.5 copium) is that the branch occurs during the conflicts between GV2 and GV3, with iX2's world being the "bad end route" in that scenario.

GQX was the closest you'll get to a GV anime in tone. It even did the thing where the first half has a vibe of tension and feels, while the second half's tone is bombastic, goofier, and drops the melancholy. Most of the named character deaths are in the first half, for instance, while nobody important but the villain dies in the second.

Also, leaving a significant chunk of characterization to outside material. Like pic related, who's either just a psycho little kid who got corrected or one of the most depressing characters, depending upon if you've watched/read other UC Gundam series.

Tenjian and Asimov have many parallels. They're both responsible for raising/corrupting the two most powerful adepts in existence. They both have similar ideals. The difference is that Gunvolt turned against Asimov, while Zonda didn't (though her end goal was more "moderate" than Tenjian's).

Really do love the GV designs, especially the ones in the first two games. For a modern style, there's a lot of variance to them (you don't have the issue where the characters would be impossible to differentiate if you were to shave them and draw them in black and white, like many anime).

They're cool. They have the best convos of any Gunvolt support group, but the boss adepts have always been the most interesting characters (why they're always the most popular). I'd place them about on par with Eden from the drama CDs, though Eden has the tragedy angle working for them. Like at one moment, they're joking around, getting into hi jinks, pranking Desna, then the next, it whiplashes into Zonda mentioning that she never knew her mom and Gibril responding that her mom was beat to death by her father. You wouldn't get that in GV3. Maybe in Zed's group, but not in Kirin's.

Then also baffling design choices like making him melee oriented but then also removing the stomp. And removing his bullits because apparently it was an issue that he could fly through the stage. But Kirin/GV/Zed can just fly through the stages in GV3 and even teleport through the stage geometry, and it's all good.

Long story short, iX2 entered development at a really bad time for the wrong reasons and was rushed out to meet the set release date, resulting in a half-baked game.

The long story:
>GV3 was in development and supposed to come out by 2021, Inti's 25th anniversary. The CEO had even already agreed to do at least one collab in it with another company's game, COGEN Sword of Rewind.
>They still couldn't figure out Kirin's gameplay by the end of 2020, GV3 is internally delayed, CEO panics and pulls the iX director (mainline scenario writer btw) off the project to go make iX2
>>Some more context: Compared to mainline Gunvolt, iX development is super streamlined and iX1 was actually meant to be out the same year it entered development (2018) but they got sidetracked with other projects at that time, so on paper iX2 development might have seemed reasonable

>The iX director felt they already peaked with Copen's old gameplay in iX1 and had to start over in a new direction (common Inti autism)
>Unlike iX1 which used Inti's oldest engine and could easily port GV2's systems over, iX2 got made with their newest one

>The mainline director (Tsuda) supervised iX1 but had basically no involvement with iX2. When he finally played it in a livestream he was openly critical of the gameplay and how Copen controls, and the CEO tried to defend it by reminding Tsuda of how meme tier his own initial builds for GV1 were before Inafune told them it needed refinement.
>The Blaster Master Zero/Bloodstained artist was furious over iX2's BMZ3 collab and all the schizophrenic lore it spawned, and complained loud enough to get a planned collab with Bloodstained and boss appearance by Zangetsu scrapped. Kirin was probably added as the 5th DLC boss to replace him.

OC is great when it's made with the intent to please people. When the content is made to antagonize, or inflame your own userbase, it can get tiresome, especially if it continues to linger after the 'target audience' is gone, and you begin to question why it's even bring brought up anymore. There is evergreen content that might pop up once in a blue moon, and still remain fresh, but then there's stuff that grievously overstays itself, and just becomes embarrassing to see brought up.

The Roll deliveries aren't particularly my thing, but they're good, gartic is jokes developed through social interaction which is an extension of the thread and they don't overstay their welcome - they're great one-off pictures you can chuckle at, melts are also a good source of material. Now that the dust settled, I realize that GV3's plot fails because it doesn't build on the world we're familiar with. There's nothing to discuss because an incoherent story culminating in a plot twist about a superpowered dragon baby isn't interesting, even if it does make for funny shitpost material. It’s always been that killing is justified, but not optimal. Like blowing up a Sumeragi power plant will knock out their capabilities, but maybe some other sort of sabotage would be equally effective and not lead to as much death or damage to society. GV has always portrayed killing as fucked up, and the enemies as not totally terrible. Also, a lot of people like the Sumeragi Seven (really, just Nova and Elise) and Eden.
