Sure he can: show him using his new powers to screw around and ignore helping someone in distress because "someone else will take care of it". It doesn't have to be someone he knows who suffers from his inaction, nor does it need to be a situation where he's punished for doing the right thing. He can still choose responsibility and sacrifice without that contrived bullshit.
