It is because of the clusterfuck created that DC decided to reboot shit yet again during the 80s. They erased all the various universes they created before. Now there was going to be a single universe going forward.
So in an attempt to please everyone they decided that the Justice Society team showed up first during the 40s. Minus Superman and Batman, of course. There was a Wonder Woman back then, but it wasn't Diana. It was her mother, Hippolyta.
Then in the 80s the Justice League showed up, this time with Superman and Batman in it. Wonder Woman, the Diana version, was supposed to be a part of this first version of the Justice League team but editors fucked that up. This created a clusterfuck, but lets ignore that since that isn't the point here.
In this new reboot writers decided to bring back the Justice Society team during the modern times so you could have the Justice League heroes and the Justice Society heroes going around at the same time. The Justice Society now was supposed to be like some sort of high-school for heroes with the old Justice Society heroes from the 40s serving as teachers.
THIS IS WHEN THE CURRENT MISTER TERRIFIC FIRST SHOWED UP. The new version was a black guy who was an athlete, who several medals, and also a genius, and because he lost his wife he decided to become a hero inspired by the original white Mister Terrific from the 40s.
Anyway, the big issue here is that a lot of fanboys and fanboy writers fucking hate the idea of the Justice Society version of these heroes being the "first heroes" because they feel that Superman should be the first ever superhero. So the Justice Society version of these characters are constantly getting fucked with.
Also Gunn's Superman movie looks like shit and i hate Mr Terrific in it.
