This is one hiccup I expected. I'm pretty sure most third-party licensed content like collab stuff is licensed to the devs such that it can only be distributed for a limited period. If a game's saves are offline, then with save editing, player's could get access to that stuff outside of the licensed period, and the devs might get in legal trouble, unless they remove it.
Most of that is still gonna be purchased with real money, so it would still be covered by consumer rights. This is one thing I'm really interested in seeing how it gets handled.
