I bought a new car 2 years ago and I've only been to work a handful of times with it because public transport is superior and more comfortable by a huge margin, and most people don't even know which one my car is. Basically I realized there is no REAL need for me to own a car since it ends up being more maintenance than usability. I get it, driving might be a hobby to some people although I fail to see how being stuck in traffic would ever "relax" someone, or working on cars as a hobby but then you won't need 6 pristine cars, maybe 6 bad cars that you fixed yourself and made them into personal jewels.
But at that time it's basically a second job.
Maybe I'm wired differently because I'm turbo euro trash, but there is no dimension or universe in which I'll willingly go into a car to drive or fix a car, rather than going jogging in the woods or sunbathing or making cocktails or any other actual fun activity.
