Season 2's really solid, has some really strong emotional moments, would strongly recommend. I'm not a fan of how the remake looks but I've heard it's following the novels more closely and is doing sort of what Brotherhood did to FMA. Might check it out at some point. The manga's alright, IMO it doesn't quite live up to the anime. The novels are the only really complete story to date and I enjoyed reading them a lot, but I get where you're coming from.
