Knights are heavy armor, shield towering turtles. That was the case in every single prior game. If I want to be fast, I won't chose to play as a Knight. In DeS, DaS and DaS2 you had build variety, which changed your playstyle. As a light thief you might be great at parries and backstabs but die in a couple hits so you better be good at dodging. As a knight you might be slow and uncouth and do less damage, but you're a walking tank. Give and take, choice between a build being centered around skill or a build being centered around stats. Everything was fast in Bloodborne and Sekiro but that's fine because they're their own games, like how DMC ain't slow, it has its right to be. But then DaS3 comes around and takes that choice away in the wake of Bloodborne, not realizing that was a different IP; poise and unlimited enemy stamina meaning character class is useless and a playstyle's sole difference now iss whether you fight at a distance with magic or up close; and if the latter it doesn't matter if you're an assassin with dual daggers or a knight in full plate armor and shield, you can bet your ass you'll be rolling 25 times per battle in a minmax backstab roll spamfest against erratic flailing spastic swordsmen. You play as a dude supposed to be coated in heavy iron armor and five minutes later you're rolling 50 times during Gundyr. It's shit. So I should drop my shield and eat the second hit that’s coming immediately after? Again, all but the weakest enemies typically attack multiple times in a row and won’t be staggered by your shield. This can be mitigated by rolling but blocking will root you in place and force you to keep blocking or roll. And if you’re just going to roll why the fuck did you ever block at all? The playstyle choice if a truly towering knight, present since King's Field, is simply not there. The fantasy's gone.
