It's worth pointing out that Lynch has stated that there is a correct interpretation of Twin Peaks but yes, it shouldn't be what fans ultimately fixate on or present to others as a grand unifying solution because doing so not only diminishes the mystery, but it takes the soul and human element out of the equation. Lynch's movies are no different than paintings in that way: what matters is how you feel about the art, and your engagement and experience, what you personally take away from it. Twin Peaks is a lot like Solaris in that fashion: endless questions and perspectives that reveal more about us than anything else.

The ending reinforces this: does Cooper ever save Laura? Has he already reached a happy ending and have we not just realized it? Or is he still in the process of it? If it is a dream, can we trust that Laura really is the dreamer? Is she having someone else's dream, or is someone else having her dream? At what point does the dream actually begin? Does Laura wake up? Does she die? The answer is up to you.
