Frieren wouldn't be Frieren if she was drawn this way. She'd be too serious for the show and too ethereal.

A better comparable character to Deedlit is Lafiel from Crest of the Stars. She's basically the same sort of character role, though not an elf (actually a human morphed for servitude(?) I forget) and in space.
It's a pity even by 1999 animation was dropping off fast. They really didn't do as well of a job for Lafiel as they did for Deedlit and she's a far better character.
