>You were raised in a Vault, one of the descendants of the original inhabitants after the war. Your Vault is constantly flooding, having power outages and succumbing to mold and decay. It isn’t long for this world, you fear. Setting out into the world is something your scout teams have done on their makeshift rafts, but apprehension fills you. Just how bad are things out there? With only a shoddy raft and a few fellow residents, your prospects seem bleak. Can you ever live the life you’re meant to? [Vault Dweller]
Vault 54. It was only after two hundred years of losing resources to frequent floods, suffering numerous political skirmishes and civil wars and several disease outbreaks that the common residents of the vault, including yourself, learned that this was all intentionally inflicted upon them by the long-dead bastards of Vault-Tec. Vault 54's doors, panelling and structural supports were all designed with gaps meant to allow water leakages, and the large cog-shaped exit door was a rusted hunk of junk by the time of your birth.
You grew up fast - at only twenty years old, the vault was deemed unsavable by the Council of Five and evacuation efforts began. Limited scouting parties had shown that the state of North Carolina had become a completely inhospitable and highly deadly wasteland, but what choice did you have? After the cave-in of the Maintenance Wing in February of 2291, you finally got 'lucky' enough to be amongst those sent out on the next set of rafts. Together with three other dwellers, you cobbled together a semi-buoyant construct made out of lunch tables, wardrobes and repurposed gymnastic equipment.
The day before your departure, you remember an old Vault-Tec book you once read over when you were little. It was called “You’re S.P.E.C.I.A.L!” and talked about quantifying all the aspects of a person in a tidy little system. How would you say yours looked?
