The reason comics are dying is because they have not changed. They are producing comics that would have sold well in the 40's-80's but not in the modern era.
More or less ever since action movies became a big thing in the 70's, comics have ceased to be the biggest entertainment source, and videogames have since deplaced even movies. Comics have some heavy lifting to do.
Just making a strong generic guy and putting him in a colourful costume to fight generic bad guys is no longer interesting to anyone compared to the well thought out movies and videogames out there.
For comics to compete they need to start producing some seriously entertaining stories.
