I'm looking for more personal comics these days. I really liked Scott Pilgrim. I don't even enjoy buying floppy comics because they take up so much space, I fear damaging them, I don't like going to the comic store every month and then hoping they aren't sold out of the issue I want, and I don't like buying back issues.
I really like memoir comics these days because they feel the complete opposite of Marvel and DC. They are very personal stories about the artists/writer's life that only they can tell. They aren't something that can be decided in a board room to sell more Funkos. I'd rather see Julia Wertz's adventures in New York City than Spiderman's adventures. Juia Wertz actually explores places in NYC like abandoned places, bars, theaters, and comic stores. Julia's alcoholism is a major theme of the books. And I admire she admits how flawed she is as a person.
