If they ever revisit him, I'd say he's depressed. Not in the self-pitying sense, but in the sense that he doesn't see a point to anything and just wants to waste his life away (I've been there). Unlike a sociopath, he doesn't value his own life all that much. If he dies, he dies, and that's okay. When Nova/Elise ressed him, rather than cutting and running, he decides to stick by Nova since he feels he "owes" him. From his background, he didn't have any friends, and his parents neglected him, happy to see him off to Sumeragi to be rid of him. This likely leading to an apathetic outlook where nothing, not even others, matter, and so, he wastes away at MMOs between jobs. Kid should really be on some Bupropion and therapy.
