Why not? Those tanks are (often) designed to transport terminators, that are the same level of bulky.
The traditional argument for "why you dont put jump troops in a transport" is that they dont need it, that whether through their own speed or DS they could get to combat reliably under their own power (vs footsliggers or terminators, who needed to get driven in). But with DS neutered (for melee armies) and the shorter time limit, why wouldnt you accept the "inneficiency" of a transport if it means your elite combat unit gets there a turn or whatever faster and unmolested by any early fire.

A unit with the master of signals nearby (for vanguard (1))
Terror squads (vanguard(2))
Contekar terminators (Vanguard(3))

The fact simply is that even IF MoS vanguard HSS are a good option (which remains to be seen) they are in no way a replacement for vanguard(big) melee elites.

No, RAW they cannot, as they are embarked on a unit that deep strikes in and then disembark. Unless there is some very specific wording with drop pods involved (which I do not believe there is, orbital drop vehicle just specifies they have to deep strike, it doesent offer some identical but differently named entry option) you cannot charge with such units.
