What you calle the west is build upon christianity, this religion is not abandoned and there are no atheists. People don't realize that they are being christian as fuck because they haven't looked at the bible and have no examples of any alternative morality or society so they can't tell the difference. They can't tell that what they consider to be "normal with christianity on top" is in fact christianity all the way down.
What is your understanding of a good man? CruelStrong and GentleWeak depending on the situation, doesn't give in to the animal inside, sacrifices himself for those he loves, otherwise helps the downtrodden and fights for ideals greater than himself. Before christianity and the other jerusalem-bound religions this was not the heroic archetype and this is not what an asian man tries to be today, they have a different idea of what a good man ought to be like.
You're a protestant, you're a catholic or other, whether you want it or not. You don't have go get baptized but your entire self was shaped by christian ideals and your parents' as well. You can't excise this specific morality out of your understanding of the world. It is not deeply rooted in your mind, you are rooted in it and grew from the soil of that religion.
