Rhode Island is on the cusp of being able to do it and Connecticut grows tobacco. Yields wouldn't be great but there are cultivars that can do it. I got a grant from URI where i proved that dryland Rice is feasible in RI (and that RI has a population of emerald rice thrips) and there are a few small farms that grow rice in Maine. Modern plant breeding can pull off amazing shit, there are breeds of figs that grow in Chicago.

Yes it is. Also the companion book is far better from a practical viewpoint, i honestly think 'understanding wood' should be on every /k/mmandos reading list. That and 'one good turn' which is a insanely informative book about the history of screws that should be mandatory reading in every school on earth.
