While I can't fully account for /co/ntrarians, I've at least read all of Preacher and the first few issues of The Boys. And while I could say that the hyperviolence and the bordering on fedora-tipping atheism was a little cliche, if not understandable for late 90s/early 00s media, I can't say that they don't try to tell stories earnestly.
With some actual success, I might add. If anything my gripes would be with the pacing and the somewhat overwhelming cynicism of Ennis in The Boys.
