>the card that can shift to anything
Morph
I was considering Morph for this one, he's the right color after all (emerald), but even though his power is useful, I'm using all 4 copies that I own in a different deck, because Alice doesn't have any decent shift targets (see pic related), and also because each of the other shift targets actually do something I want them to, whereas Morph only morphs. Finally, I *could* get more copies of Morph, but he may be rotating out in a month and a half, so I risk having to replace him anyway (same with Gramma Tala, but we'll cross that ocean when we get to it).
>the bird that shifts by discarding a card
Diablo
Diablo would be an amazing addition to any Emerald deck, trouble is, I was never able to get one. They're always sold out at all the singles dealers near me, and they're still $25+ online before shipping, despite being from set 4, and also possibly rotated out in September. So, right now, paying $100+ for a play set just doesn't seem worthwhile.
>How does rotation work? When there are 9 sets in standard, the older 4 become illegal?
So when Fabled (set 9) is released, the first 4 sets will become illegal in standard tournaments. However, they said that there will be 'legacy' tournaments, but it's hard to guess how widespread those will be. Also, in Fabled, nearly half the cards are going to be reprints. Any card that they reprint in a legal set will make all versions of that card legal in standard tournaments, so if I get lucky and they reprint Gramma Tala and Morph, I'll still be able to use the cards I already have (and maybe it'll be time to spring for a set of Diablos).

Updating my previous deck with some set 8 cards. I call this one The Queen of Hurts.
The focus of this deck is to damage as many characters on the board as possible without killing them, and using that damage to fuel a huge amount of Lore gain. Dormouse, Alice, Teeth and Ambitions, On Your Feet Now, and Mosquito Bite help to spread out the damage, while QOH-Haughty Monarch, Pack Tactics, Robin Hood, Ralph, and Adorabeezle rake in Lore depending on if they're damaged or opponents characters are damaged. Vision Slab gains you lore, but also prevents opponents from removing damage, QOH-Unpredictable Bully ensures that all characters start play damaged, KoH prevents damaged characters from challenging you, QOH-Sensing Weakness and Mad Hatter help with card draw, and Morph can be used to shift one of your many floodborns, but is meant for Alice, who doesn't have any shift targets.
