>play SS because everyone gushes over the sovl and writing
>its just generic pre-2000s fantasy adventure with an overly feminine protagonist that every character is obsessed with
>endgame is a shit stomping slog
Joshuas arc was pretty good though, ill give u that
>theme is absolute bottom of the barrel slop about even when you have lost everything and you have no hope, you can still cling to other people, even the phantom of other people, as a means to keep moving forward.
>lyon failed to do that so he deserves to die and valter/caelach became obsessed with glory which turned them evil and mad so they deserve to die and Selena knows what shes doing is wrong but she clings to this loyalty to the phantom of vigarde to motivate her but this is actually bad even though its the exact theme of the game so she has to die
I think the system of dark reflections like duessel-selena joshua-caelach ephraim-valter etc would be better realized if they didnt fucking DIE immediately after the connection is made. What actually makes joshua different than caelach? That he wins (survives) and takes responsibility for abandoning his home? So joshua deserved death if he becomes a gloryhound with no responsibility? He is basically one arc seperated from caelach. My point is that it feels less like they are conquering dark reflections/alternative paths of themselves and more like they have absolutely 0 empathy for people quite similar to them with no remorse for killing them. Eirika also has no foils in SS so she stays relatively static throughout the game. not a very soulful game imo
