The idea of using Baalbuddy and Aleria is simple: to learn from them.
It’s really common during the study process to not know what to do — like which pose to use, or even whether the figure is correct — especially when you’re studying alone, like I am.
That’s why I used both of them as references, since I admire them a lot.
I do create original stuff, but it’s always hard when you’re scared of messing up the face proportions, the torso length, or just feeling like everything looks wrong.
People usually learn by painting the Mona Lisa — and it’s the same in art studies. A lot of painters redo famous works over and over until they figure out where they want to go in fine art.
Anyway, I don’t know if it upset you that I used other artists’ work. If it did, I’m really sorry — but it was the best I could do without access to courses, just using Loomis’s books.
I’ve actually redrawn all of his book exercises by hand to study and practice.
Below is one of my current pieces. I still get scared of making mistakes and not knowing if I’m on the right path…
Thanks for the feedback. I promise I’ll work hard to make less stiff and more original poses. I promise.
