I think the thing that sperates faux-anime with actual anime is, ironically, it lacks variety

Most anime actually looks different from each other, just very subtlety (sometimes it more though)
Meanwhile most anime-epse cartoon share the same generic anime-ism across each show.
Probably why I haven't been too much of a fan of that style, seems too generalizing
