Don't worry. Soon cars will become a luxury good for most of the Western world. It will happen in public-transport friendly Europe first, and it's inevitable in the US too. The unbeatable efficiency of WFH lifestyles, Amazon-style delivery of goods, and continued density increases of suburbs will turn suburbs into "urban" equivalents, with walking-distance necessities like grocery stores and light commercial zoning. This will depress car demand and lead to higher car prices for everyone as car companies fold. Resource bottlenecks will help bring this about quicker than you think. US manufacturers in particular made their choice to sell larger, more expensive vehicles instead of creating a sustainable car economy, a choice that will kill most of them in time.
