I loved it.
It's absolutely Zen like gaming experience. A game you can play for multiple IRL days without seeing a single cutscene, without pushing "the plot" forward, if you want.

it essentially mixes RE1 style route and loadout planning, with MGS-like stealth action, and terraforming-like world building aspects.
All while having that neat indirect community co-op aspect, that all perfectly ties to the game's simple yet solid subtext:

World's a better place when people co-operate, we need our silent heroes to keep our shit running and clean.

Zoomer doomer posters never cease to disgust me.

MGS4 was a great game, enjoyed by everyone back in the day. And Kojima's visions work THE BEST in an interactive format; none of his games would work as a movie nor TV series, because you'd miss the player engagement and input aspect, the in-world acknowledging of (You)r efforts in the past and present.

This, but as an oldass gamer, what I find the most weird is that people these days consider his shit "weird and interesting". He's just a representative of THE original, golden era (pre-iPhone) gaming industry; the times when EVERY game was an "experimental" attempt to appeal to a very niche yet passionate target audience, while pushing boundaries of tech and narration.

Not to mention both MGS5 (even in its broken, unfinished state) and Death Stranding absolutely pulverize most of the much more recent UE5 AAA slop when it comes to game art, directing and audio. The amount of interactive, often dynamic elements also outright embarrasses the average Western offerings from the past 10 years.
