Kris doesn't really care. He reacts, he sees us, but he doesn't really react. It doesn't matter if he has a reason to be like this on his background like you mentioned, he is as he is. He has gone through the trauma the whole seperation thing humanity and more and he did culminate into this. Kris isn't nice, he's a fucking cunt for the vast majority of the time or an isolationist weirdo, and its dumb to pretend like he didn't enjoy the darker path we took deep down. He's a spiteful little shit at the best of times to the majority of people, and for as much as he's some "innocent" with a tragic past meant to make you feel bad for him, he's also the originator of about 3 entire fucking fountains and working with the Knight and more.
He's not innocent, and he does enjoy this deep down, and he's working with the Knight and he's been a cunt and he's a little fuck. The mantle is taken seriously because its serious, and because that little guy knows Kris better than Susie or Ralsei or anyone else does.
