T8 was at an awful state before he showed up, months overdue for gameplay fixes. Then Clive showed up as a character very few wanted and more were angry at either no Tifa or a lack of returning cast. Then the S2 patch fucked it even harder. While Tekken does a good job ruining itself on its own, Clive sparked far more discontent than happiness.
