Crossbows use tools to make it so they're not rowing 120 pounds. Some have crows feet for deadlifting the string. I like a good windlass pulley. But the final mechanic is the same, YOU aren't sending the projectile down range, the BOW is, and YOU are just applying strength to the bow in order to make it do that. If you can't do that, you're using it wrong.
