You know what I realized?
Even very well connected settings have the upperclass exclusively prefer things *from their own region*.
Which seems flavorful (heh) on first blush but doesn't actually reflect how people have historically eaten outside of the poor to low middle class, turbo isolationists and xenophobes and even then many anti western dictators often had stashes of American movies or English whiskey.
